Antonio Ruiz Camacho

Antonio Ruiz Camacho is the Managing Editor position at Rumbo de Austin.

Between 2001 and 2004, Ruiz Camacho lived in Madrid, Spain, where he worked for Turner Publicaciones as Press and PR Associate of the Noema essay collection which includes Five Days in London, by John Lucaks; Conversations with Picasso, by Brassaï, and 100 years, 100 days, by Manuel Alvarez Bravo as some of its main features. Among other responsibilities, he was in charge of both revistadelibros.com and turnerlibros.com websites content.

Previously, he joined To2.com in 2000 as Editor in Chief. One of the main events during the Latin American dot-com very first days, To2.com was the first online newspaper with original content published both in English and Spanish, and published in Mexico City and Houston, Texas. Ruiz Camacho directed a staff of 40 people, among Reporters, Editors, Photographers and Investigative Journalists.

From 1998 to 2000, Ruiz Camacho was Correspondent in Madrid, Spain, for the Mexican newspaper El Financiero. He also joined the Special Affairs staff of the same newspaper, where he covered a number of issues, from Immigration, Poverty and Genetics to Natural Disasters and Technology, featuring in-large stories from different Mexican regions, such as Chiapas, Michoacán, Puebla, Baja California Sur and Chihuahua, as well as from abroad: United Kingdom, Spain, California, New York City, New Jersey and Massachussetts.

From 1996 to 1998 he was Deputy Editor for the Domestic service of Reforma newspaper, featuring customized editions of its content for a number of local newspapers. He also joined the Arts & Culture section of Reforma as Reporter, where he was devoted to cover such issues as Literature, Education, Technology and Religious Minorities.

During all these years, Ruiz Camacho has also contributed as a freelancer for a number of magazines, such as Letras Libres, Expansión, Latin Trade, Nickelodeon, Chasqui and Travesías, and for micontacto.com and viajo.com websites as well.

He holds a Bachelors Degree in Communications from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City.
